HOW TO PREVENT DANDRUFF?
The outer layer of our skin (the epidermis) is renewed approximately every 28 days. Every day, mature cells are shed from the skin. However, in certain skin diseases, this epidermal renewal is abnormal. Find out what causes dandruff and how to avoid it.
UNDERSTANDING DANDRUFF
Dandruff is an extremely common hair problem. It consists of small white pieces of skin, also known as flakes, which come from the scalp.
There are two types:
Dry dandruff.
- Unsightly but benign, they are very small (no more than 1 to 2 mm), thin, white or light grey. They often cover the whole of the scalp which is dry and dehydrated, giving it a “powdery” appearance. It is sometimes accompanied by itching and moderate redness.
Oily dandruff
- Associated with hyperseborrhea, the flakes mix with the sebum. The sebum breaks down, causing redness and itching.
- Large, thick and yellowish, dandruff adheres to the scalp.
FACTORS THAT CAUSE DANDRUFF
There are many causes that trigger the appearance of dandruff. It can be due to irritation of the scalp, hormonal changes or high sebum secretion (hyperseborrhoea) in the scalp. And finally, in case of stress and fatigue the scalp can also react.
WHICH COSLYS SHAMPOO SHOULD I USE?
A shampoo adapted to this problem is used. Coslys Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is enriched with jujube bark extract (zizyphus joazeiro) which is at least as effective as the zinc pyrithione used in the conventional sector. It also has a major advantage over its synthetic counterpart in that it also calms itching and irritation of the scalp, with an effect that lasts even beyond the treatment.
Directions: Use the shampoo 2 to 3 times a week as a treatment for 4 weeks and then once a week alternating with the ultra-gentle shampoo.
